Recovering From Depression
Thanks for all the emails, my favorite people. I am still alive. I just went back to work.

That's right! I'm back at work and doing fine. I have a feeling I'll be on my Effexor for awhile, but life is looking so much better. I'm just trying not to push myself too much in the next few weeks, so I've been cutting back on the blogging. I haven't read many blogs other than MOMocrats and D.C. Metro Moms in the last few weeks.

Please forgive me but I'm now deprived of my daily afternoon nap and I'm just able to sit on the couch and veg, or maybe mindlessly edit a few photos before I collapse into bed. Once I (and my kids) are back into the usual schedule, I'm sure I'll be back trolling blogs in the evening. Until then, please don't forget me!

I still have dirt to dish about the D.C. Blogger Happy Hour last Friday in Rosslyn. Lots of fun people were there, including a co-worker of Amie's that I won't link because he blogs anonymously and presumably would like to keep it that way. (He's not in the group photo.)

I think Devra won for best quote of the night. It was a toss up between these two:

"What do you want me to put in my mouth?" and
"You must be watching the wrong sort of porn."

Ah, that Devra. I love her to death. And not just because she's the only person on the planet shorter than me.

Of course, I have photos for you!

Clearly, a good time was had by all.

I'm not at all bitter that everyone left by 11pm, forcing me to go back to my hotel and take pictures of my feet. (Don't worry, I left them out of the photo set.) On the plus side, I got to watch that adorable movie, Juno, and raid the mini bar. Of course, it made me cry. (The movie and the mini bar. Who leaves chocolate out of a mini bar?)

And as stated before, it was great to meet you!! I really think the group pic came out good-- we all look so happy!

Dude. I've been almost entirely away from the blog world for the last couple of weeks, but if I'd have known you were around after happy hour (couldn't make that event) I would have dragged you out for more fun and games!

I love us. We are awesome! And I love that look on Chris's face...

I'm SO SORRY, I couldn't be there. Especially with Devra and her wonderful wisdom!

No chocolate in the mini-bar?? Oh next time I'm totally hooking you up.

And I do feel guilty about having to leave, but this new workout plan I'm on... it's killing me.

I'm so glad you are back at work - you must be doing really well. Good idea to ease back into the usual grind by abstaining from the staying-up-too-late-bloghopping!

I'm glad you are feeling better and back to work.

Ya'll look like fun!

Umm, In San Fran? I won't punk out at 11PM ... if you want to stay up late, that is. =)

Contrary to what it sounds, I am not a porn expert. However, I do admit that during the 1980's I did get together with my Jewish youth group, order pizza and watch porn on Saturday nights.

This resulted in Alan Tombank writing a quote from one of the films in my yearbook of "Don't bite bitch!" I can bring my yearbook to the next Happy Hour if that will entice more people to attend the next time! A great time was had by all!

Sorry about the early evening, LM... Next time we'll make it a late one like the first time! 1 A.M. at Silver Diner and all!

I was depressed in my mid teens through early twenties. For me, it was a combination of psychological and spiritual issues - stuff having to do with my life and stuff having to do with my attitude toward life as a whole. I think the spiritual aspect is often overlooked.

dude, we're going to have so much fun in San Fran.

None of this 11pm crap. Even if we just go back to our hotel room and down a bottle of vodka while taking pictures of our feet, you won't be alone.

I am glad to hear all is on the upswing.

Thanks to Flutter for the red shoes heads up, because that picture had me kind of confused.

Best wishes getting used to work; I'm glad you're back.

Glad your re-entry is going well. I go back after Easter and can't decide if I'm looking forward to it or not! Although, hopefully it won't be too bad as my doctor is recommending a 'phased return'.

No chocolate in the mini bar! I thought you stayed in 'nice' hotels!

Speaking of chocolate, I'm going to Belgium on Saturday. Can't wait for the 'chocolate shopping'!

that's wonderful! And, yes, I did see the shoes.
N is back on line. See her post at http://justmakingitup.wordpress.com/2008/03/14/waking-up/
