What Next?

Melt downs, Virginia Tech, and....

What's next?

Well, we just found out that B., my brother, is going to Iraq later this year. I knew that ditching all that guilt was going to bite me in the ass.

  2. Oh, that is terrible. I am so sorry for you and your family. It shouldn't be this way, really, it just shouldn't.

Sadly, that cartoon kinda does sum it how a person can feel sometimes in the face of such tragedy and despair.

  4. My thoughts and prayers to you and your family, Lawyer Mama. G*d bless your brother's, your husband's and your family's service to our country. And that's said regardless about how I feel about the Pre.sident and this war.

  7. LM,

You know how Ifeel about the war, but make sure that you tell your brother that your ol' pal Gunfighter says:

"Shoot first, shoot fast, and keep shooting until you are SURE!"

  8. I am so sorry to hear that news! Is he going for 12 or 15 months (Army or Marines or other service)?

My late friend Jane's son is over there now. We are all beside ourselves with worry. But we are trying our best to put it all in God's hands. I will be praying for your brother.

"All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well"

I am on the verge of a meltdown...myself!

I am so sorry to hear about your brother. I will pray he returns quickly and safely. It is amazing how willing people like him are to sacrifice to protect the masses!

  12. LawyerMama - been surfing blogs and came across yours - very sorry to hear about your brother.

Read your previous post - and wish you well. My boys are only 14 months apart so I can relate! The only thing I can tell you for sure is that it really, really does get easier as they get older and can actually interact/play together. Hang in there!!!

  13. Thanks everyone. I think the pity party at Chez Lawyer Mama is over. I talked to my brother and he was so incredibly positive about it, that he has shamed me out of my funk.

GF - I will definitely pass on your advice. My brother reads my blog, so he may have seen it already. And I think I can pretty confidently say that my brother and I share your views about the war.

CPA Mom - 12 months. He's in the Ohio National Guard, the 37th Infantry Brigade. For your reading pleasure:

  15. Hope and the power of positive thinking have to be your religion now.

  16. I'm so sorry to hear that your brother is heading east. But if he's positive about it, that helps. I can't imagine how hard it would be to send an ambivalent or disgruntled loved one to war.

  17. oh, man. wow. i can't imagine having to go and support this.
