Folks, I can't thank everyone enough for your kind comments and thoughtful emails after my post about Hollis starting school. I didn't think the idea of school would be so hard. Hollis has been in full time daycare since he was 4 months old. But just thought of SCHOOL makes me all teary and emotional. So thank you, again, for your sweet words.

Despite my emotional fragility, I'll be around a bit less for the next couple of weeks. My hubs is in Korea for the next 3 weeks, my mom is visiting, my dad will be here next week, my mother-in-law next weekend, and then some good friends will be here over the Labor Day weekend. So please be patient with me and my lack of commenting. Hollis starts school right after Labor Day, so I'm sure I'll need y'all to hold me while I weep.

My 19 month old learned a new word in the car with me this morning.
"Fuckhead!"
Lovely.

In my defense, the asshat in the truck did cut me off. And what was up with those over sized tires? Why doesn't he just make up a bumper sticker clearly announcing his inadequacies in, um, ... other areas?

  17. My oldest starts preschool in the fall too, but I'm choosing to ignore it until it is right upon us. I think we may have missed the orientation night because I just can't bring myself to open up that envelope again.

As for words, I was so proud of myself when I uttered "deuche bag" in the car the other day, now how do I explain that one? The 4 year old picked right up on it too.

  18. With all the visitors coming and going, the transition into school may be a bit easier for you.

And I totally agree with "Fuckhead" as being used in the correct content.
I myself, probably would have called out Fuck-Tard, but either would make me feel better.

  20. i personally think "fuckhead" is a very useful word, and it will, erm, serve your boy well someday? someday far in the future, of course. ;)

i'm nosy, but what's hubby in Korea for? and more importantly, what city is he in and does he want some recommendations for fine places for food and drink? i've been a little homesick for the land of the morning calm lately...

  21. When my children were young, I told them to be *more resourceful* than to use swear words. When they were teenagers, the only thing that I could think to call them (yes, to their faces!) was "fuckin' idiots". I was no longer smart enough to be *resourceful*...Now at 22, and 23 years of age, my boys call it a term of endearment.

LM...just made it back here...i spent a year in Busan and Dave spent three, and on the off chance that T is looking for a great expat bar i recommend the Vinyl Underground in Daeyeondong...friends still live in the city and say it's still pretty fun. there's also a great Indian restaurant on Haeundae beach called (yep) Ganga. like the herb. it's below the stack of TGIfridays and other import restaurants...plus it's a pretty beach when not overrun with umbrellas.
